The Abdomen Is Divided into Nine Abdominal Regions By Two Horizontal And Two Vertical Lines. 

Two Horizontal Lines
1. Transpyloric Line ( Midway Between Xiphisternum & Umbilicus )
2. Transtubercular Line ( At The Level Of The Two Tubercles On The Iliac Crest About 2 Inches Behind The Anterior Superior Iliac Spine )

Two Vertical Lines
Vertical Lines Are Drawn On Either Side Through The MidPoint Between The Anterior Superior Iliac Spine And Symphysis Pubis

Urinary Bladder

Midline Oval Swelling Above Symphysis Pubis Which May Reach Up to Umbilicus.


Palpation Of Urinary Bladder

Normally The Urinary Bladder Is Not Palpable.
It Feels Firm Or Elastic In Retention Of Urine.
Application Of Pressure Induces Pain And Desire For Micturition.
Side To Side Movement Of The Mass Is Not Possible.
In Distension, Upper And Lateral Borders Are Palpable But The Lower Border Of The Swelling Can Not Be Reached.

Percussion Of Urinary Bladder

It Is Done From Above Downwards And The Swelling Is Dull On Percussion.
